EMS and AirEvac Officials Discuss The Impact of Hospital Tax Vote

Officials from Fayette County EMS and the AirEvac medical helicopter say their services won’t go away, regardless of the outcome of the June 13 hospital district election.

EMS Director Sharon Muzny and EirEvac program director John Jones spoke at a meeting in Schulenburg Wednesday night hosted by Concerned Citizens of Fayette County, a group opposing the hospital district. Both Muzny and Jones stated at that meeting that all of the services provided by their organizations would remain in place even if St. Mark’s were to close.

“We are independently owned and operated,” Jones said. “We do lease some property from St. Mark’s. Obviously, there would be some potential changes if St. Mark’s were to close. We don’t know what those would be yet. But we are not going anywhere. This has been our home for 20 years and we don’t plan on leaving.”
