Elvas Ewald Roensch,

Elvas Ewald Roensch, 94, of La Grange, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Elvas was born in the Rabbs Prairie Community on Jan. 25, 1925 to Ewald and Anita (Schellberg) Roensch.

He married Lorine Walther on Oct. 26, 1947 in Warda.

Elvas served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the European Theatre of World War II.

He spent his career as an auto salesperson for over 30 years until his retirement.

Elvas is survived by three sons: Harvey Roensch and wife, Katherine, of Houston; Donald Roensch and wife, Christine, of La Grange; Gary Roensch and wife, Jean, of Cypress; sister, Evelyn Gersch of Giddings; sister-in-law, Doris Roensch of Tennessee; seven grandchildren: Steven Kyle Roensch and wife, Jesilyn; Christopher Andrew Roensch and friend, Katie Hoffmann; Elizabeth Anne Roberts and husband, Jared; Aaron Michael Roensch and friend, Stephanie Hinch; Christa Nicole Roensch; Amanda Leigh Roensch; Benjamin Andrew Roensch and fiancée, Alexis Tarpley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorine; brother, Dean Roensch, and brother-in-law, Henry Gersch.

A visitation was held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations. Family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. A prayer service was held at 6 p.m.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool, The Lutheran Hour, or to a charity of one’s choice.
