Traffic Halted After Fatality Accident on US 77

A major fatality accident on US Highway 77 between La Grange and Giddings is blocking traffic right now.

The accident happened about a mile north of the Fayette-Lee County Line, near the South 49 RV Park. Two 18-wheelers and an automobile were involved.

A state trooper at the scene said three people died in the accident and three others where transported to hospitals with injuries. All six of those were occupants of an automobile. The drivers of the two 18-wheelers were not injured.

The highway opened back up to traffic around 12:30 a.m. following a lengthy investigation.
