Janish
Peter Emil Janish, 95, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
He was born in Fayetteville on Feb. 15, 1924, the son of Joe F. and Mary (Canik) Janish.
Peter served in the U.S. Army during WW II in the infantry, and was stationed at Okinawa.
He began his career working for the Knipel Dairy, and later in his life worked as a self- employed carpenter.
Peter is survived by three sisters: Mary Rainosek and husband, Frank of Austin; Vlasta Korenek and husband, Lawrence of Columbus; and Clara Gerik, of Fayetteville; four brothers: Robert Janish and wife, Evelyn of Bellville; Alois Janish of Fayetteville; Steve Janish, of Columbus; and Joe Janish and wife, Diane of Fayetteville. He is also survived by eight nieces, fifteen nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Janish; sisters: Annie Janish and Angeline Janish; sister-in-law, Charlene Janish; brother-in-law, Frank Gerik; two nephews; and one great niece.
Visitation was held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish Hall in Fayetteville. The family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. at the parish hall.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 209 E. Bell St., Fayetteville. Burial followed at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, masses may be given in Peter’s remembrance or donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945.
