Goerig

Ralph J. Goerig of La Grange went to his heavenly home on June 19, 2019 at the age of 78 years.

Ralph was born on March 4, 1941 to Elo J. Sr. and Mary Kulhanek Goerig in La Grange. He was retired from Fayette Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Ralph married Rita Kallus on May 29, 1960 in Hostyn. Rita preceded him in death on March 1, 1982. Ralph married Cathy Ruether on May 19, 1984.

Ralph enjoyed hunting and camping with his family. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2574 and Bishop Odin Fourth Degree Assembly in La Grange. Ralph served two 2 year terms as Grand Knight of Council 2574 and was very instrumental in the purchase of property and construction of the Knights of Columbus Community Center. He also served as Faithful Navigator of Bishop Oden Assembly and served one term as Stage Committee Man for the Texas State Council and District Deputy for four years. He also was a member of Hostyn KJT Society No. 3 where he served as vice president for fifteen years and president for twenty years.

Ralph is survived by his wife Cathy; two sons, Ronnie and his wife Shelly of La Grange, David and his wife Mary of Fayetteville; one daughter, Joan Malota and her husband Leonard of Fayetteville; step-son Raymond Glass and his wife Tiffany of Sealy; step-daughter Rebecca Glass of Aus-tin; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, E.J. of Bryan and Dennis and his wife Kathy of La Grange; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Rita, daughter Donna Goerig, and granddaughter Nicole Goerig.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn and on Monday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Parish Prayer Service and K of C Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019. The family received visitors from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn with Father Dan Kahlich and Deacon John McCourt officiating. Services under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home.

Interment followed at Queen of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hostyn.

Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Scholar-ship Fund at Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic School Endowment Fund in La Grange, the Knights of Columbus Council 2574 Scholarship Fund, Visiting Angels and Brazos Valley Hospice.
