Gladys Marie (Wanjura) Dittrich, 79, of Weimar, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Gladys was born in Weimar, Texas on Oct. 12, 1939, the daughter of Fred Wanjura and Selma (Schimcek) Wanjura.

She married Clarence Frank Dittrich on Nov. 8, 1959 in Weimar. They moved to Houston in 1962 to begin a career and start a family. They moved back to Weimar in 1996 to help take care of Gladys’ parents. Prior to Clarence passing away, she made her home at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center in Schulenburg in 2014.

Gladys worked for 36 years in Houston as an Accounts Payables Supervisor.

Gladys was a member of the Red Hatters and the Literary Guild, both in Weimar, and was a former member of CDA in Weimar.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Renee Bage; sister-in-law, Angie Kleiber of La Grange; sister-in-law, Cleo Wenske of La Grange; sister-inlaw and brother-in-law, Helen and Arnold Janda of La Grange; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Kitty Dittrich of Schulenburg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andrew and Becky Dittrich of Sacramento, California; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Clarence Frank Dittrich; her parents; Fred Wanjura and Selma (Schimcek) Wanjura; son-in-law, Brian Keith Bage; grandson; Ryan Keith Bage, and brothers-in-law, Paul Kleiber and Vernon Wenske.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services were held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 410 N. Center St., Weimar, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019. A rosary was recited prior to the funeral mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 410 N. Center St., Weimar, Texas 78962; St. Michael’s Catholic School, 103 East North Street, Weimar, Texas 78962; or a charity of one’s choice.
