Needle Phobia

A Lehmann’s Opinion

They have one chance and one chance to do it right. I know its added pressure, but that’s my number one rule.

I had to have blood drawn recently. I told the lab technician that she had one chance to insert the needle and if she didn’t get it right the first time, too bad. I was out of there. I could just picture myself running out of the place with hospital staff, dressed in white coats, chasing after me. Well, the lab technician did a fantastic job. It hurt some but it didn’t take long to draw the blood that she needed. I walked away relieved that it was over and relieved that my arm didn’t bruise.

Yes, I hate to have blood drawn. And, yes, I hate to have an IV. It hurts. Some people tell me, it’s nothing to it. You have got to be kidding me. It hurts. I’ve been this way all of my life and I am not embarrassed to say so. I can’t stand to see someone get a shot on television. Needles give me the creeps. I have a needle phobia called aichmophobia.
