Are You Ready for Some Football?

Just in time for the hottest week of the year, high school football is back.

While most of Fayette County was taking shelter in air conditioning as the first triple digits of the year descended on this area, local football players had no choice but to embrace the heat as practices began Monday.

“With this heat we’ve got to be so careful,” said La Grange head coach Matt Kates, “The days of being tough are long gone, we’re forcing water on them. If you start (hydrating) at practice it’s too late. It’s a 24-hour process of eating right and being hydrated when you get here.”
