Fayette County Opry to Host Special Tribute to Tammy Wynette Monday

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, Aug. 19 with a special tribute to Tammy Wynette with Allison Crowson and Duane Wavra portraying George Jones at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $7.

Tammy Wynette, born Virginia Wynette Pugh, on May 5, 1942, was an American country music singer-songwriter and one of country music’s best-known artists and biggest-selling female singers. Tammy was called the “First Lady of Country Music,” and her best-known song, “Stand by Your Man,” is one of the best-selling hit singles by a woman in the history of country music.
