31st Annual Wendish Fest Slated Sept. 22

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society will host the 31st Annual Wendish Fest on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum Complex and the St. Paul Lutheran Church picnic grounds at Serbin.

Event activities begin with an 8:30 a.m. English worship service and a 10:30 a.m. German worship service. Guest speaker for both services will be Rev. Mark David Barz, 3rd Vice President of the Texas District, the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Joining him will be Rev. John Schmidt, Pastor of St. Paul Serbin and Rev. Thomas Obersat, Pastor of Ebenezer Manheim. Sunday School and Bible Class will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Polka music by the Moroavian polka band of Ennis, Texas will be featured throughout the day. A special presentation by students of St. Paul Lutheran School will present the Wendish celebration of Ptaci Kwas (Bird Wedding).
