Jimmie Daniel Chovanec,80, of El Campo, passed awaySept. 20, 2019.He was born on Feb. 5,1939 in Rabbs Prairie to the lateRudolph and Celestine OrsakChovanec. Jimmie retired fromFrito-Lay. He loved spendingtime with family and friends onthe farm in Fayetteville, fishingon the Colorado River, playingdominoes and watching the Astros.He oversaw the lawn andlandscaping at Christ LutheranChurch. His passion was barbecuingfor family and friends andcould always be found in his garagewith his Natural Light.He is survived by his wife,Carolyn Haney Chovanec ofEl Campo and would have celebratedtheir 53rd wedding anniversaryon Oct. 2; daughters,Pamela Zalman Fontenot of ElCampo, Beverly Longoria ofEl Campo, Wendy Stehling andhusband Bob of Austin, JamieRonacker and husband Karlof Dallas and Chris Brand andhusband Bill of Conroe; grandchildren,Ashley Labay and husbandSterling, Ross and HunterHrncir, Zoey Zalman, Jacob andMason Longoria, Bailey Stehling,Jordan O’Leary and wifeAndi, Amanda Plymate and husbandSean, Kevin Jefferson andwife Shannon; great-grandchildren,Bristol and Gage Labay,Sawyer and Luke Jefferson andnumerous nieces and nephews.Jimmie was preceded indeath by his parents; sister, MargieKneblik and brothers, Clementand Frank Chovanec.Family received visitorsfrom 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept.23 at Triska Funeral Home. Funeralservices began at 2 p.m.Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Christ LutheranChurch with the Rev.Wayne Clement officiating.Pallbearers were Ross Hrncir,Sterling Labay, HunterHrncir, Mason Longoria, JacobLongoria and Bob Stehling.Memorial donations inmemory of Jimmie may be madeto Christ Lutheran Church.Condolences may be sharedat www.triskafuneralhome.com.Funeral arrangements havebeen entrusted to Triska FuneralHome in El Campo.
