Calvin Dockery, 78, of Flint,formerly of La Grange, passedaway unexpectedly on Friday,Sept. 20, 2019.Calvin was born in Bryan onFeb. 4, 1941, the son of Johnny J.Dockery and Mabel M. (Brown)Dockery. He married MargaretAnn (Schoonover) Dockery onNov. 17, 1962, in Bryan. Calvinand Margaret were blessedwith two children: David andAmy. Calvin shared fifty yearsof marriage with Margaret untilher passing in 2013.He served proudly in theUnited States Navy and washonorably discharged in SanDiego, Calif., on Sept. 6, 1966.Calvin later became a memberof the VFW Post No. 5254 andAmerican Legion Post No. 102.Calvin worked for morethan 20 years for GTE/Verizon,in several positions, but his favoritewas as a cable splicer.He and Margaret owned the LaGrange Western Auto for almost10 years.While living in La Grange,he was a life member of theLa Grange Optimist Club andserved at the local and state levelin many officer positions. Hewas also a member of the FayetteCounty Fair Board and LaGrange City Council.Many will remember Calvin’shumorous and loving nature.He enjoyed making otherssmile and being a good stewardof his community. He wasan exceptional husband, fatherand grandfather who cherishedspending time with his family.Calvin married Gloria(Darden) Dockery on Jan. 2,2017, at Holy Cross LutheranChurch in Warda. They latermoved from La Grange to Flint.They enjoyed spending timeat their lake house, fishing andtraveling together.He is survived by his wife,Gloria (Darden) Dockery; son,David Dockery and fiancé,Dawn Sand of Paige,; daughter,Amy Donarumo-Greene andhusband, William J. Greene, III,of Frisco; two brothers: JohnRiley Dockery of Millican andBurtis Rae Dockery of Bryan;grandchildren: Amanda NicoleDittert and husband, Saxon;Reverend Ryan Michael Dockeryand wife, Breann; TylerAaron Dockery and wife Charity;Audrey Catherine Donarumo;Michael Austin Greene;and Liam Ethan Greene; fivegreat-grandchildren: Brooks,Ava, Emmett, Zoey and Owen;father-in-law, Valentine Kusy;stepson, Harvey Huebotter andtheir families.He was preceded in death byhis parents; his wife, Margaret(Schoonover) Dockery; daughter-in-law, Melissa Dockery;infant brother, Lee Roy Dockery;and sister-in-law, SherianDockery.Visitation will be held onFriday, Sept. 27, 2019, from 11a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-BelvillFuneral Home & Cremations.Family will receive friends from6 to 7 p.m. A prayer service willbe held at 7 p.m.Funeral Services will beheld at Holy Cross LutheranChurch, 600 FM 1482 in Warda,at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept.28, 2019.
