Tumis

Pearlie (Weyand) Tumis, 93, of La Grange, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019.

Pearlie was born in Round Top on Nov. 18, 1925, the daughter of George and Hattie (Mueller) Weyand.

Pearlie attended school in Nassau. She was baptized in faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton. She later met her husband Albert. The couple wed in 1947 and raised one daughter, Peggy (Tumis) Johnson.

Pearlie enjoyed baking. She was renowned for her famous peach cobbler and pumpkin roll. Along with cooking she enjoyed spending time tending to her flowers and working in her yard – bougainvilleas were her favorite. She had a special touch for bringing past plants back to life. Pearlie was a champion bowler, her team won State honors in the 60s. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Other activities that brought her joy daily included sewing and spending as much time with her family and friends as she could. She never met a stranger and everyone was welcome into her home. Pearlie had the kindest heart and the amount of lives she impacted was immeasurable. The thought of her memory may bring a tear to our eyes, but now she is happily reunited with her husband and family in heaven.

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Pearlie Tumis was a great treasure to so many of those who knew her.
