Pipeline Causing Concern

The planned Red Oak Pipeline, which will bring crude oil from Oklahoma and West Texas to facilities on the Texas Gulf Coast, will run through a portion of Fayette County.

Some local landowners are raising concerns about affects the pipeline might have on property values and the environment. Plains All American Pipeline, the company building the Red Oak Pipeline, told the Record this week that they have not yet finalized the route, but they have begun the process of notifying landowners.

“Area landowners have been contacted by land agents seeking permission to survey their property,” said Jeff Cosola, a spokesman for Plains All American. “However, because the route is still being finalized, some additional landowners may be engaged in the future.”
