Michalek

Funeral services for Leon Michalek, 79, of Giddings, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Leon Adolph Michalek was born on June 29, 1940 in Fresno, Calif., the son of Rudolph August Michalek and Minnie Bertha (Waltersdorf) Michalek. He married Dianna Fischer on July 27, 1962 in San Antonio. Leon worked at the Giddings State School as a Security officer for more than 25 years. He enjoyed going to Louisana to the casino’s, traveling, especially going on cruises, fishing, hunting, playing bingo, farming especially working on his tractor, mowing, gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Leon passed away on Thursday, Oct., 31, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Round Rock.

Leon is survived by his wife, Dianna Michalek of Giddings; his three daughters, Judy Zoch and her husband, Delbert of Warda, Cheryl Iselt of Manor and Debbie Bage and her husband, DeLynn of Manor; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Buesing and her husband, Marvin of Nordheim, Helen Serece and her husband, Bill of Cuero and Bernice Hargrove of Cuero; two sisters-in-law, Claudine Michalek of San Antonio and Debbie Michalek of Port O’Conner; one brother-in-law, Bobby Fischer of Lincoln as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
