Reistle
Carl E. Reistle, III, 84, of La Grange passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019.
Carl was born in Tyler on April 24, 1935, the son of Carl and Mattie (Muldrow) Reistle, Jr. He was raised in Houston, graduating from M.B.Lamar High School where he was awarded the Outstanding Graduating ROTC Cadet.
Carl graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1958. He was a proud Life Member of the Texas Exes alumni association and to his fraternity Beta Theta Pi.
Carl served in the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He married Ann (Decker) Reistle on June 4, 1960 in Houston. The couple moved to Kingsville where Carl began a career with Humble Oil (now Exxon-Mobil). He held various engineering management positions across the country over the next 40 years until he retired in 1997. He authored four U.S. Patents pertaining to sub-sea oil and gas developments.
Carl was a registered American Indian with the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma.
Carl loved life and had a passion for people. He enjoyed time at the Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, serving as President and Board Member for years. He loved to golf, spend time at his farm and his cabin in Hunt, Texas. Carl was a great storyteller and always had a smile for everyone. He got great joy from giving gifts to others, but his presence in our lives was the greatest gift of all.
He is survived by his son, Chris Reistle of La Grange; daughter, Amy Reistle of La Grange; sister, Betty (Reistle) Pierce of Houston; three grandsons: Cooper, Slater, and Decker Sidaras; nieces and nephews; beloved friend, Nora Butler; his ExxonMobil family; along with numerous friends that held a special place in his heart and who are forever touched by his kindness.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years, Ann Reistle; and two sisters: Mattie Ann Clark and Nancy Holiday Parker.
A visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange. Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services were held at St. James Episcopal Church, 156 N. Monroe in La Grange, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. Burial followed at Hostyn Catholic Cemetery.
