Election Day: Local Results Mostly Mirror State Figures

Voters across Texas approved nine of the ten proposed amendments to the state constitution in the election held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The most noteworthy measure was Proposition 4, which makes it harder for future lawmakers to enact a personal state income tax. It passed overwhelmingly with 76 percent of the statewide vote. Fayette County voters gave it even more support, approving it with 84 percent of the vote.

The measure with the most support statewide and locally was Proposition 10, which allows the transfer of a law enforcement animal to a qualified caretaker without a fee in certain circumstances. It passed statewide and locally by 94 percent of the vote.
