Shorthorns Fall to Ganado 49-31
The Schulenburg football team led by three points going into the final quarter Friday in Ganado, but the Indians rallied for 21 unanswered in the final period to beat the Shorthorns 49-31.
That loss hurt in a lot of ways for Schulenburg. Not only did the Shorthorns see their chance to earn the District 14-3A runner-up playoff seed slip away, but the loss dropped them into a three-way tie for second. On a point-differential tiebreaker, the Shorthorns fell all the way to the No. 4 seed in the district, meaning they will match up with District 13 champ Comfort (8-2) in the first round of the playoffs. That game will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Floresville’s Eschenburg Field.
Against Ganado, the Shorthorns went into halftime tied 14-14 thanks to a pair of Temon Glover touchdown runs.
