George W. Henneke, 85 of Fayetteville passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.

George was born in Frelsburg on Feb. 22, 1934, the son of Anton and Lena Moeckel Henneke. He was baptized June 29, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg. He married Una Mae Krenek on Sept. 20, 1959 in the Fayetteville Brethren Church in Fayetteville. George entered the US Army Nov. 8, 1956 and was honorably discharged as a SP4 Oct. 31, 1962.

He owned and operated a gas station in Fayetteville for several years before moving to Houston to work at Tube Turns as a machinist for 20 yrs. Then moved back to Fayetteville where he and his wife owned and operated T & G Bar for about 20 years. He enjoyed serving friends and family at his bar. Lots of parties were also held at the bar along with playing cards, dominoes and shooting pool. Most of all he enjoyed his cattle. He more than likely had a name for all of them.

He enjoyed going to church feasts on Sundays with his sister Virginia and his friend Rick. He always enjoyed going to Orsak’s restaurant to eat, sometimes twice a day.

He was a member of the American Legion for 28 Yrs.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Henneke Polasek of La Grange; brother-in-law, Frank (Butch) Krenek and wife Evelyn of Fayetteville; nieces, Karen and husband Milroy Helmken of Rutersville, Kathy and husband David Faldyn of La Grange, Shirley and husband Rick Pavlicek of Fayetteville, Joyce and husband Larry Foster of Columbus, Cindy Shirley of Burton, Glenn Polasek and wife Sandy of La Grange, Carol Polasek of La Grange, Doug Krenek andwife Erin of Katy, Robin and husband Ryan Sklar of Fayetteville; several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews also survive; and special friend Rick Hornak of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Una Mae Krenek; hisparents; brother, Robert Henneke and wife Lera Heintschel Henneke and Gilbert Henneke; brother-in-law, LeeRoy Polasek; nephew, Danny Polasek; niece, Amanda Krenek Sklar; great nieces, Amber Polasek and Tammy Helmken; and great great nephew, Cole Faldyn.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Nov. 20 starting at noon at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Family received visitors from 4 to 6 p.m.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Meismer officiating. Burial followed in the Fayetteville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
