No Need to Hurry, Ella

Every birthday is a good time to celebrate the past and think about the future. But some birthdays just feel a little more meaningful than others. Sunday was one of those days. Our oldest child, and only daughter, Ella, turned 16 Sunday. Sixteen is one of those fascinating ages. At 16, the state of Texas says you can legally drive a car by yourself when all the proper hoops are jumped through. That age is the first real milepost towards impending adulthood, with 18 and 21 coming up way too fast for my taste. The occasion has me thinking about what a great gift she has been, but also lamenting about the all too quick passage of time.
