Flatonia Advances to Regional Semis

Coming into Friday’s playoff game against La Pryor, the Flatonia football team had not won a game by less than 26 points since Oct. 4. So in a nailbiter by Bulldog standards, Flatonia beat upset-minded La Pryor 35-24 in a 2A area round playoff game in San Antonio.

Those 24 points were the most Flatonia had allowed all season, but the Bulldogs offense made sure than didn’t matter as Juan Netro ran for two touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass to Erek Herrera. Dakory Willis ran for a game-high 118 yards and a touchdown and Chris Johnston returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. The victory improved the No. 6-ranked Bulldogs to 11-1 this season, while La Pryor ended their season with a 7-5 record. Flatonia now advances to the regional semifinals where they will face Bremond (which is also 11-1) at 6 p.m. Friday in Rockdale.
