Irene E. Meyer Koopmann of La Grange passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.

Irene was born in Hallettsville on Aug. 10, 1947, the daughter of Ferdinand and Ella Blaschke Meyer Jr.

Irene married Werner (Johnny) Koopmann Jr. on April 28, 1973 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange. In her early life she worked at Stanzel’s in Schulenburg and was a caregiver. She was a domestic housekeeper for the last thirty years and assisted her husband with various paint jobs.

Irene is survived by her husband Werner (Johnny) Koopmann Jr. of La Grange; son, Jason Koopmann and wife Stephanie of Weimar; daughter, Theresia Karstedt and husband Kevin Karstedt Sr. of La Grange; grandchildren, Nick, Kaylee, Camyron and Trinty Koopmann, Victoria Dominguez and husband Emmanuel of Weimar, Caitlyn Muras of Weimar, K.J. and Kelli Karstedt of La Grange; three bothers, Willie Meyer and wife Cynthia, James Meyer and Harvey Meyer and wife Denise, all of Schulenburg; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Strmiska and Judy Zuhnn; brothers-inlaw, Martin Koopmann Sr. and wife Karen, Wayne, all of La Grange, and James Koopmann and wife Janice of Santa Fe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Werner and Louise Koopmann Sr.; three children, Darrell, Louise and Werner Koopmann III; and brothers-inlaw, Norbert Strmiska and Jim Zuhn.

Visitation and prayer service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Family will be present for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Hospice Brazos Valley, Fayette Animal Shelter, or to a charity of your choice.
