Ahlschlaeger

Funeral services for Kenneth Ahlschlaeger, 86, of Giddings were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. John Waak officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Kenneth Lee Ahlschlaeger was born on June 8, 1933 in Giddings, Texas to Benno and Annie Helen Louise (Fuchs) Ahlschlaeger. He was baptized on July 30, 1933 and was confirmed on April 11, 1948 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Kenneth was drafted by the United States Army on October 14, 1953. He was released from active service on October 13, 1955 and was honorably discharged on September 30, 1961. He attended Blinn College on the GI Bill graduating with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration. He was united in marriage to Waldine Schellberg on January 31, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas by Rev. George Reck. He was a fencing contractor who owned Kenneth Ahlschlaeger Fencing. He served on the Lee County Historical Society board and was a very active member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Kenneth passed away the evening of Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings

He enjoyed reminiscing about his military experience. He enjoyed watching football and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Giddings Buffaloes and the old Southwest conference teams. He loved living on their farm tending to his animals, gardening and tinkering.
