Funeral services for Verna Mae Becker, 85, of Serbin, were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Verna Mae (Boettcher) Becker was born on Oct. 8, 1934 in Giddings to Albert Edwin and Edna Louise (Mueller) Boettcher. Verna Mae married Monroe Becker on Jan. 3, 1954 at Waldeck Lutheran Church by Rev. A.T. Kluge. They were blessed with four children, Allan, Allene, Donald and Beverly.

Verna Mae passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 at her home in Serbin with her family by her side.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Edna Boettcher; her granddaughter, Brianna Nichole Becker; one brother, Winston Boettcher Sr.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin & Alice Becker and a nephew, Jimmy Becker.

Verna is survived by her husband, Monroe Becker of Serbin; four children, Allan Becker and his wife, Julie of Serbin, Allene Schramm and her husband, David of La Grange, Donald Becker and his wife, Teresa of Giddings and Beverly Ramos and her husband, Nick of Giddings; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Maurice Boettcher of La Grange; one sister, Doris Chovanec and her husband, Clarence of La Grange; one sisterin-law, Annette Foerster and her husband, Charlie of Lincoln; two brothers-in-law, Elbert Becker and his wife, Adelia of Serbin and Eldor Becker and his wife, Lori of Serbin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
