Spaulding

Bruce Jay Spaulding, 84, of Round Top passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.

Bruce was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on April 26, 1935, son of Russel Spaulding and Rose (Blakeman) Spaulding

Bruce’s family moved to New London, N.H. in 1937. He graduated from New London High School, post graduate - Hebron Academy, Hebron, Maine and a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1958 from the University of New Hampshire.

Bruce married Sue Staley in 1958 in West Chester, Pa. His first job was with Metcalf and Eddy, a consulting firm in Boston, Ma. In 1959, Bruce enlisted in the Navy, attended Naval Officer Training School in Newport, R.I. and joined the Civil Engineering Corp. He was first stationed in Adak, the Aleutian Islands, followed by NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va.

Bruce started his business career with Borg-Warner in 1962 (becoming York International) in Sales Management. He had 35 years of service with York, was Regional Manager for 22 years in the Houston Office, and concluded his career as President of Natkin Services, a York Acquisition.

Bruce and Sue, with their two sons, Jeffrey and Steven, lived in Houston for 35 years. In 2003, they bought a home in Round Top. Bruce loved their home in the country where they would make many new friends. He was an active member of the Round Top Family Library, an active supporter of Festival Hill Institute, and St. James Episcopal Church, La Grange. While in Houston, he was also an active member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Staley) Spaulding, two sons: Jeffrey Spaulding of Houston, Steven Spaulding and his wife, Beverly, of Houston; two granddaughters: Kimberly and Michelle; sister, Marilyn Tranchita of Madison, Wisc.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lawrence Spaulding.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at St. James Episcopal Church, 156 N. Monroe St., La Grange.
