Richard Crow, 88, completed his earthly journey Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. He was one of the twelve children born to Ed Crow and Mamie Almabelle (Davis) Crow. He was born Aug. 25, 1931 in Gonzales. He attended school in Gonzales and served 10 years in the 36th Division National Guard.

He married his life-long love and companion, Alma (Polly) Windwehen on Feb. 27, 1951. They had three children, Ramona Claire, Richard Carlton and DeAnn Rene’. He worked in sales and service until becoming the owner of Ritz Food Mart in La Grange, then retired to Granite Shoals where he worked part-time in real estate for several years. He was a Lions Club active member for over 38 years in both La Grange and Marble Falls. He loved camping, fishing, playing domino’s with the kids and grandchildren, including teaching them how to water ski. He loved telling tall tales and talking about old times and his childhood with his brothers and sisters. He was known for his telling jokes, loved casinos, visiting relatives, but most of all, loved being with his wife, children and grandchildren. He truly loved road trips especially to Del Rio with Mona and Garland and the trip to his aunt and uncle’s in ghost town in Arkansas and to the Grand Ole Opry.

Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Alma (Polly) Crow; daughters, Ramona Brill (Garland), and DeAnn Lowery (Curtis); son, Rick Crow (Terrie); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Ritz, Mary Agnes Pilat and Rene Cowen; brother Don Crow; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Preston, Ed, Robert and John Paul Crow; three sisters, Mable McMenemy, Marcia Crow and Nellie Clark; and grandchild, Lukas Austin Crow.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum with Chaplain William Plotts officiating. Burial followed at Yoakum Restland Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thiele Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum.
