Juenger

Edith Ann Juenger passed away on Jan. 16, 2020 at the age of 97. Born on the family farm near Plum, she was the second child and oldest daughter of Frank and Annie Srubar Vecera. As a child Edith spoke Czech in the home and learned English in primary school. She attended Plum and Hostyn Schools and Durhams Business College in Austin. After moving to Houston, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Edith met her husband Charles at the wedding of a friend and they were married on September 6, 1948 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum.

She was the loving mother of seven children whom they raised in Houston and Baytown,Texas and Jenks, Oklahoma. She was a member of KJZT, the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas.

Edith was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church and she and her husband modeled Christian teachings and values in their family life. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress, a devoted life coach and supporter of the wide variety of interests and endeavors of her children and grandchildren. She had beautiful handwriting and loved solving crossword puzzles. Edith loved learning about contemporary American history and kept many clippings and magazine articles which she shared with her family throughout her lifetime.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Charles, brothers Alfred and Edwin, sisters Annie and Alice, and her grandson Aaron Clark.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses Kay and Allen Clark, Ken Juenger, Gary and Cassandra Juenger, Jo Ann and David Wasicek, Charlene Juenger, Marlene and Lealan Walker, and Bill and Phyllis Juenger, Grandchildren and their spouses Lauren and Brad Betchan, Ryan and Amie Clark, Andrew and Keri Clark, David and Amanda Clark, Ethan Juenger, Jo Beth Wasicek, Clement Wasicek, Eddie and Michelle Walker, Eryn Nickell, Katelyn Juenger and Jessica Juenger, and eleven great grandchildren, Tirzah, Keziah, Otto, Larz and Kaiser Betchan, Bryant and Brendan Clark, Kinley and Jacob Clark, and Liam and Rowan Walker.

Edith and her husband were among the first families that formed the Parish of St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Tulsa, Okla. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated there on Friday, Jan. 24 by Monsignor Patrick Gaalaas. Her remains rest in the columbarium in St. Bernard’s Church, next to those of her husband’s.
