Lady Leps Out-Run Smithville to Stay Unbeaten in District

Halfway through district and no basketball team has come close to slowing down the Lady Leps.

In front of their biggest home crowd of the year, the La Grange girls overwhelmed the defending district champion Lady Tigers of Smithville Friday, winning 67-41. The victory improves the Lady Leps overall record to 25-3 and their district mark to 5-0.

The Lady Leps have now played, and beaten, all the district teams once. They’ll play each of them again (starting Tuesday in Bellville). “The scoreboard doesn’t always show it, but it feels like in this district anyone can play anybody tough on a given night,” La Grange head coach Heath Golan said. “Smithville’s been in every game they’ve played, but we came out and played well tonight.”
