Leopards Edge Tigers by Three
The La Grange boys basketball team had just a 5-11 record heading into district play last week.
But the more important the games have gotten, the better the Leps have played.
After starting district with a big win over Giddings Jan. 17, the Leps lost by three in Caldwell Tuesday (missing a gametying shot at the buzzer) before flipping that script Friday and beating Smithville by three, 50-47, as the Tigers missed a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer.

“I feel like we’ve played harder the last three games, once district play started the intensity picked up, there was more a sense of urgency,” La Grange head coach David Cooper said. “I don’t think we’re executing any better than we did earlier, honestly, but we understand the importance of these games.”
