Boyd

Robert “Bob” Gordon Boyd, 88 of Schulenburg, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020.

Bob was born in El Campo on Dec. 18, 1931, the son of John Hamilton and Grace Laura (Smith) Boyd. He was married to Myrtle Juanita Ferguson for 13 years during which time they had five children.

On Jan. 11, 1992, Bob married Rosalyn Herrick in Zapata.

Bob was a man of many trades. He started his working career as a rice farmer and dairyman in Wharton County. Later he owned Boyd Construction Company as a home builder in Kingsville. Bob then moved to Luling where he owned Boyd Drilling Company. His last endeavor was ownership of Falcon Loan Company in Zapata until his retirement in 2000.

Bob was a handyman and a collector of tools. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing and hunting with the kids. He treasured time spent with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Rosalyn; his children: Teresa Boyd-Mynier and husband Jack of Falls Church, Va.; Ann Maxwell of Bastrop; and Melody Medders and husband Frankie of Cleburne; Robert Boyd II and wife Edna of San Antonio; step-children: David Herrick and wife Mariel of San Antonio, and Susan Albrecht and husband James of Round Rock; son-inlaw, Jon Carrigan of Niederwald (widower of Debbie); sister, Elizabeth “Bess” Hamlett of Bay City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; friends, Joey Melton, wife Jessica and their three children; and Michael Seger, wife Krystal, and their two children.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Grace Boyd; sister Jane Boyd and brothers John Boyd, Joseph Boyd, William Boyd and James Boyd; daughter Debbie Carrigan; and step-granddaughter Erin Albrecht.

Memorial Services will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity organization of one’s choice.
