Navidad Valley Community Connections Celebrates Valentines Day, Enjoys Prizes
Navidad Valley Community Connections celebrated Valentine’s Day on Feb. 12. Members enjoyed a wonderful meal and even better entertainment. The St. Rose children grades third through fourth entertained members with songs and jokes. What fun it was to have these children visit. The seniors gave them candy and book marks, made during crafty corner.
The Lunch and Learn speakers on Monday, Feb. 10 were Mike “Bubba” Ollie and Cheryl Brossman from Fayette Savings Bank. Olle told NVCC members that the bank used to be just a savings and loan bank, hence the name, but now they are a full service bank able to handle a full range of banking needs. Fayette Savings opened in La Grange in 1978, 1982 in Flatonia, 1985 in Schulenburg and recently opened in Weimar. Olle talked about the rates they have with different accounts, highlighting the 13 month CD at 2.00% interest. He stated that tenure is extremely important in any business and they are very proud of the longevity of their employees. He continued by adding that 90% of their employees graduated from local high schools. He noted that eight current employees have a combined work time of 202 years; two of them have 28 and 26 years. Pretty unusual in this day and age. They also had several drawings for NVCC members.
