Official Says County Ready If Coronavirus Strikes Here

Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Craig Moreau said he does not expect a coronavirus outbreak in the local area, but if it does happen, Fayette County is prepared.

“I’ve been getting a lot of calls, and the big question is whether our EMS and local hospital are prepared if someone here shows signs of the coronavirus,” Moreau told the Record in an interview on Friday. “Yes, we have adequate supplies and St. Mark’s Hospital has ways to keep patients isolated.”

Moreau said the hospital has two negative pressure rooms that can keep the air inside from escaping.

“We do not have an ICU, so if someone showed up with serious symptoms, we would ship them out,” Moreau said.
