State Bound! Lady Horns Headed to Alamodome

The Schulenburg girls basketball team punched their ticket to the Alamodome in San Antonio with a 3A regional title win as the Lady Horns defeated Poth High School by a final score of 59-38 Saturday afternoon at Seguin’s Leslie “Goldie” Harris Gymnasium.

One of the final four teams left in the state in Class 3A, the Lady Horns (34-4) will face Shallowater (37-2) at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Alamodome.

The winner of that state semifinal will face the Woodville(35-4)/Winnsboro(29-7) victor in the state title game Saturday at 10 a.m.

Schulenburg senior guard Brynlee Hollas led the way for the Lady Horns Saturday in the regional finals from the very beginning with 10 points in the first quarter and 20 points for the contest.

“We’ve been waiting on this game for a year since Poth beat us last year in the 3rd round”, said Hollas. “It feels so good to win this game. Our team wanted it so much and we’re really excited.”
