Lorene (Koepke) Kirkpatrick, 99, of La Grange, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2020.

Lorene was born in Rutersville on Oct. 21, 1920, the daughter of Louise (Mohrhusen) Koepke and Theodore Koepke. She was baptized and confirmed at Rutersville Lutheran Church by Pastor Heise.

She worked in retail in La Grange for a number of years before moving to Houston where she met and married Doyle Edward Kirkpatrick in 1973. They then moved to Manvel. Lorene was a bookkeeper for K-Mart for several years, and upon retirement, she and Doyle moved to La Grange to be near family and friends.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Church where she enjoyed attending services and participating in church activities. She was known for having a green thumb and loved gardening and caring for her flowers.

Aunt Honey, as she was lovingly known, is survived by two nieces: Joyce Kolbe of La Grange; Gloria Merwin of Houston; stepson, Lynn Kirkpatrick and wife, Debra of Pasadena; two step-grandchildren: Sarah (Kirkpatrick) Shaarpour and husband, Adam of Houston; and Ryan Kirkpatrick of Pasadena; also fondly remembering her are eight great nieces and nephews; fourteen great-great nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years, Doyle Kirkpatrick; brother, Kermit Koepke and wife, Edna Mae; two sisters: Leota Baca and husband, Jerome; and Elva Koepke; nephew, Howard Koepke.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church 110 W. Walnut St., La Grange, TX 78945.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 110 W. Walnut St., La Grange, Texas, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.
