Sport Cancellations End Strong LG Soccer Seasons Right Before Playoffs

When coronavirus precautions shut down high school sports back on March 14, the La Grange boys and girls soccer teams were in the midst of standout seasons and right on the verge of beginning what they hoped would be long playoff runs.

The La Grange boys had a 11-8-1 overall record but a 9-1 record in district and were all alone in first in the standings with two games to go in the regular season. The La Grange girls were 12-7-1 overall and 7-2 in district with one game to go in the regular season.

For a month the teams waited, hoping school would resume and they could continue their seasons. Last Friday the word came from Governor Greg Abbott that school facilities would stay closed for the remainder of the school year and those hopes of continuing the season were ended.
