Groundwater Contaminated Around FPP, But LCRA Says No Indication of Health Risk

The Environmental Integrity Project (EIP) released a report Monday, March 4, about groundwater contamination from coal ash around the nation’s coal-fired power plants.

The Fayette Power Project (FPP) outside La Grange was listed in the report for having three times the safe amount of lithium and sulfate in groundwater at the plant.

The EIP report used data that was self-reported by the power plants as required by federal law. In the case of FPP, the data came from several monitoring wells located in and around the coal ash landfill at the power plant.
