La Grange Softball

The La Grange softball team opened district play with a 2-1 loss at Bellville Tuesday.

The Lady Leps had the makings of a big first inning but only scored one run and they were shut out the rest of the way by Bellville pitcher Abby McKeown, who hurled a complete game four-hitter with nine strikeouts.

La Grange’s Mikaylee Supak pitched a complete game four-hitter as well. She struck out five, but Bellville was able to push across two runs in the sixth inning to win.

The lone La Grange run was scored by Natalie Blackwell, who was driven in by Lauren Little. Sydney Fritsch hit a triple. Kailee Jones had two hits for La Grange and Becca Heinrich had the only other hits for the Lady Leps, whose record dropped to 12-7 overall and 0-1 in district with the loss.

The Lady Leps return to action at Navasota next Tuesday.
