Fate of Local Oil Field May Hinge on Flea

Can a flea shut down an oil field? Possibly – if it’s a tiny crustacean known as a water flea and can’t survive in the

wastewater discharge from oil wells. The Environmental Protection Agency uses water fleas to test toxicity in water because

they are very sensitive to water chemistry.
