For the first time in the 10-year history of the La Grange High School soccer program both varsity teams, the Leopard boys and girls, are heading to the second round of the playoffs after bidistrict playoff victories last week.

The Lady Leps started the postseason party with a 2-0 win over Gateway Prep Thursday in Elgin. Estela Cabrera and Shelby Hofferek scored the goals for La Grange, and head coach Chris Westall said Chelsea Brothers was a defensive standout in the game.

“I can’t say enough about this team showing up and playing their best game of the year when it mattered most,” said Westall. “Knowing the program was seeking the first playoff win in its 10-year existence was a great motivation, and to have these girls deliver was a special moment. It’s another step in the right direction for this program as we look to continue to improve and compete at higher levels.”
