Alfred Cyril Michalsky, 91, of La Grange, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

Alfred was born on Nov. 19, 1927 in Fayetteville to Peter and Frances (Krenek) Michalsky.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and served for ten months, and was later called back to service from 1950 through 1952. Through his service he worked as a truck driver and was stationed in Colorado, Alaska, and Ft. Hood.

Alfred wed the love of his life, Irene Jasek, on Nov. 20, 1955 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville. They not only built a lifetime of memories together, they also constructed their home, raised their family, and were always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family or anyone in need.

Alfred worked for the Texas Highway Department for 34 years where he was known as “Pete.” He was a motor grater operator, which he loved. He continued to drive the roads to the present day to check on how they were being built.

He believed in living a simple life. He believed in the golden rule. Alfred enjoyed working with his cows, making hay, tinkering with his tools, and listening to polka music. Above all else, he loved his family and his “honey.” Alfred and Irene were married for 63 wonderful years and showed their family everyday what it truly meant to love unconditionally. Their legacy of love is one to be treasured.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Michalsky of 63 years; daughter, Vicky Bargas and husband, Louis; son, Mark Michalsky and wife, Charlotte; granddaughters: Holly McBroom and husband, Jason; Nicole Ramirez and husband, Juan A.
