Funeral services for Byler Lehmann, 24, of La Grange were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, with Pastor Matthew Humphrey officiating. Burial followed in the Chriesman Chapel Cemetery in Deanville.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Lehmann family was present for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Byler Thane Lehmann was born on April 5, 1995 in Bryan to Landis Lehmann and Neldra (Busby) Applegate. He was baptized in December of 1995 at First United Methodist Church and was baptized again on Jan. 29, 2017, at New Heights Church in College Station. He attended Giddings High School.

Byler then got his GED and attended Blinn College. He was a welder for J&J Metal Works. Byler enjoyed music, backpacking to attend concerts, fabricating, and spending time on the river. He was an artist, photographer, painter, tattoo artist, and enjoyed graphic design. He volunteered at the nursing home whenever he was needed. Byler was an adventurer. He would set out with his pack and a bus ticket, to new places, knowing no one, but always returning with new friends and great memories. Byler brought renewed life, hope and healing through his final blessing of being an organ donor, for two recipients and more to follow.

Byler passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas from injuries he suffered as the result of an automobile accident on April 4, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jonell Busby, Wayne Lehmann, Ronita Maynard and Jim Harris.

Byler is survived by his mother, Neldra Applegate and her fiancée, Bradly Teinert of La Grange; father, Landis Lehmann and his wife, Cyndi of Lincoln; four sisters, Lathe Hinch and her husband, Lathe Alan of North Carolina, Nevaeh Lehmann of Lincoln, Priscilla Lehmann of Lincoln, and Ashley Motley of La Porte; five brothers, Chaz Lehmann of Lincoln, Cayden Lehmann and his fiancée, Heather White of Bryan-College Station, John Maynard of Houston, Robert Allen of Houston and Casey Motley of La Porte; girlfriend, Lauran Maci Dobos of Ledbetter; five grandparents, Gary Gerdes and his wife, Dorothy of Giddings, Jerry Busby and his wife, Jerry of Deanville, Julie Lehmann of Houston, James Teinert and his wife, Nancy of La Grange and Freda Harris of Oklahoma; three nieces and nephews, Charli, Kolbin and Greyson as well as numerous great grandparents, cousins, aunts and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Cayden Lehmann, Garson Gerdes, Cory Christianson, Cody Harkrider, John Maynard and Robert Allen.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Donate Life Texas, Attn: Finance Department, 2510 Westridge Street, Houston, Texas 77054.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
