NCAA Softball National Tourney Filled With Fayette County Talent

You can’t throw a softball in this year’s NCAA Championship Tournament without hitting a Fayette County softball player.

In the Austin Regional, Texas A&M (28-25) plays Houston Friday at 2 p.m. (37-17) in a game that includes former La Grange standout Blake-Ann Fritsch, who has started 45 games for the Aggies this season with 26 hits and seven RBIs.

In that same regional, Sam Houston State (34-21) plays UT (41-14) Friday at 5 p.m. in a matchup that includes former La Grange standout Darby Fitzpatrick and former Schulenburg star Kyndal Kutac, who are teammates on the SHSU team. Recently, Kutac was the honorable mention all-conference selection after the regular season of her freshmen year at Sam Houston State. Kutac hit nine home runs this year.
