D’Hanis Ends RTC’s Season One Step Shy of State

The Round Top-Carmine baseball team’s epic playoff run ended Saturday with their second loss to D’Hanis in the regional finals. The Cubs had lost to D’Hanis 6-1 Thursday in Game 1 of their 1A best-ofthree regional final series and the Cowboys finished off RTC with a 6-0 victory Saturday in Marion.

The Cubs finish their season with a 16-12 record. They made it farther in the playoffs than any baseball team in school history.

In Game 1 Thursday, D’Hanis’ ace pitcher, Texas A&M commit Alex Magers hurled a complete game five-hitter with nine strikeouts. RTC’s only run of the series came in the third inning of that game when Bryan Lunbeck tripled and was driven home by Ryker Goehring.
