L.E. Johnson, 88, of Schulenburg died Thursday, May 16, 2019. She was born April 24, 1931 in La Grange to Will Risper and Alice (Misher) Risper. She was employed as a cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Johnson, Sr. who died April 29, 2006; his parents, one son, one daughter, five brothers, and six sisters.

She is survived by daughters, Erma Williams of Weimar, Charlotte Johnson of Houston, Janette McKenzie of Schluenburg, Rhonda Scott and husband Macy of La Grange; sons, Larry Johnson of Schulenburg, Charles Johnson of Schulenburg, Leonard Johnson and wife Marilyn of Schulenburg, Michael Johnson and wife Sandra of Houston; sonin-law, Larry Scott of Houston; sisters-in-law, Minnie Mae Harris of Houston, Augusta Scott of Houston, Estella Johnson of Houston, and Shirley Risper of Houston; 30 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Bethlehem AME Church in La Grange on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Austin Jones and Pastor Vince Harold officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.
