Janda Reunion Held in Hostyn

The C.M. and Bessie Janda family reunion was held on Saturday, July 13 at Hostyn with 61 people in attendance. A delicious catered meal of fried chicken, sausage and trimmings was served, along with a variety of desserts that were provided by the guests.

Two of the 11 children born to the Jandas are still living and were in attendance. They are Dolores Prilop, 93, of Angleton and Victoria Kolaja, 88, of Houston. Gertrude Janda of Bellville, wife of the late Vit Janda, was also present.

The Janda’s were prominent residents of the Hostyn community where they resided and raised their family. Janda passed away in 1969 and Mrs. Janda in 1977. Their children who have since passed away are sons: Vaclav, George, Ben, Leo and Vit Janda and daughters: Frances Rainosek, Mary Lidiak, Ann Wessels and Beatrice Kubasek
