McKenzie Found Guilty of Capital Murder

BELLVILLE-An Austin County jury returned a guilty verdict in the capital murder trial of Derrick Jamal McKenzie on Friday afternoon, July 26.

McKenzie recieved an automatic life sentence for the June 2013 slaying of La Grange resident Sandra Pfeiffer. Since he was a juvenile at the time of the murder, McKenzie will become eligible for parole after serving at least 40 years in prison.

The jury deliberated for just under three hours before returning the verdict, which capped off a week-long trial.
