County Again Out-Performs State for Sales Tax Growth

May sales tax rebates to local governments indicate Texas’ economy is still growing at a steady pace and that Fayette County’s growth is well above the average. State Comptroller Susan Combs sent rebate checks to 1,147 Texas cities, averaging a little over 6 percent above the same month last year. La Grange’s check for May was up by more than 8 percent.
