Rinse and Repeat

Well, here we go again. We know how this drama plays all too well. First, a troubled individual uses a gun to go on a killing  spree. Usually, the shooter kills himself or is killed by police. Then, the nation expresses its shock and surprise. Next, the victims’ loved-ones speak out about the violence. Gun-rights advocates fire back with harangues about their (and our) Constitutional rights. Someone points out that other tools and objects can be used for mayhem, so they absurdly suggest that we should ban all knives, baseball bats, or even electric toasters. Politicians weigh in on all sides of the issue. Rinse.

Repeat.
