The Prescription Drug Takeback Program kicked off on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Schulenburg. Those who were in attendance enjoyed getting a close-up and personal with Kolt, Fayette County K9. Sgt. Randy Thumann explained how the dogs are trained and how they work a drug stop. He also talked about how he knows who to stop and who not to. Kolt only speaks Czech though he was born in Poland.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek spoke about the latest information on local drug issues. He also said folks have already started using the drug disposal box located in the police station.

Navidad Valley Community Connections (NVCC) is partnering with Thadious Polasek and the Schulenburg Library as well as Blinn College, to start a conversational Czech program. The purpose is to provide area residents with an opportunity to practice speaking Czech or Moravian. It is a great, fun and informal opportunity to speak over lunch.
