Kahlden

Bernice Scheel Kahlden, 86, passed away on Sept. 11, 2019 in Columbus. She was born to John F. and Lydia (Fritsch) Scheel on Jan. 4, 1933 in Ellinger. She married Allen “Cotton” Kahlden on Oct. 20, 1952.

Bernice was a secretary for an insurance company in her early career before settling down as a homemaker for her husband and children. She loved to cook, garden and can vegetables. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, the St. Anthony Altar Society and the Colorado County Ambulance Corp.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Allen “Cotton” Kahlden of Columbus; daughter, Patti Parks and husband Mark of New Ulm; son, Thomas Kahlden and wife Patty of Caldwell; and grandchildren, Sarah Parks and Kolby Kahlden.

Visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at Henneke Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. A parish prayer service and rosary began at 7 p.m. Funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Thomas Kahlden, Kolby Kahlden, Mark Parks, Ronnie Huebel, Tom Wavra and Sand Flint III.
